No Casinos in Florida

No Casinos was founded in 1978 by then Governor Reubin Askew to prevent casinos from coming to Florida. For over 35 years their successful grassroots campaigns have stopped gambling expansion initiatives on the ballot, in the courtroom and in the Legislature.

Today, Sara Johnson, No Casinos’ Central Florida Field Director, will share with us the history of gambling expansion in Florida, current gambling-related initiatives, and several of the harms that come with gambling expansion.

Sara Johnson has been in politics for almost a decade and she has worked on issues and campaigns large and small throughout Florida. In her spare time she is pursuing a Psychology degree at the Orlando campus of Palm Beach Atlantic University.
